Eva Tosh – ‘Talking Patterns, and Ways of Seeing’

For the second task I wanted to explore more different ways of creating my designs, compared to task 1 – I wanted to experiment with creating digital drawings, hence why a lot of my drawings were created on Procreate. I took inspiration from the things around me, and the different shapes I could see. For example, I took inspiration from the streets and different shapes I could see in signs or on walls. I also took inspiration from the V&A, where I explored many different types of art. I was especially inspired by their embroidery exhibit, and I took a lot of influence from the shapes and patterns I could see within those. Also, to look at things from a different perspective, I decided to zoom in on an image of strawberries to draw them in a new way. I also wanted to emphasise my love of patterns, so I joined some of my drawing together to create a different patterns – enabling me to view my designs from a different perspective and experiment more.

In your”way of seeing and talking pattern”, I saw so many different ways to manipulate the shape and I think you are really understand how to from what you see transfer to the visual language like different types of shapes and patterns. I really like the second design, with the brushes texture. it’s quiet organic and natural. It’s like a random combination. If you agreed with me and also like this work. Maybe you can keep develop this kind of random natural concept. In addition, it’s so creative to see you change the different way to express the strawberries shape. It’s quiet interesting. Perhaps, you can adding some colors into the pattern rather than use the pencil. It’s so happy to see your work.
