Way of seeing, Talking patterns–Wanru Zhao
In Task2, I was inspired by American illustrator Jayde Fish’s suzhou Garden, which is a very large painting with a size of 300*180*5cm. According to this brief, I tried to find some interesting patterns in this work, so I found the stones in the garden and the pillars in the courtyard. The shapes of the stones are very rich, and each of them is almost different in size/shape. It is just because of this that they look natural. In my paintings, I try to draw stones of different sizes and combine them in a collage way. At the same time, red columns in the courtyard combine with the irregularity of the stone. The texture of the column itself is very solid, but in my painting I made it very soft and easy to put different shapes, which is my understanding in this painting and the inspiration and attempt brought to me.
