Wanru Zhao—Talking colours
For this task, I chose as my reference a set of London sunsets, which I took in Kingston, London. The colours in the photos have obvious colour contrasts, such as the dark shadows of the branches and the warm tones of the sunset. In my ten paintings, I choose different styles and mediums to display, like stick figure painting, colour lead painting, oil painting and so on. In terms of style, I also adopted some abstract expressions. I tried to use simple lines to reflect the sky at sunset. The colour block in the picture was very small, so I enlarged this detail in my work. Obviously, I mainly experimented with a variety of styles of tree branches and leaves: silhouettes of tree branches, using simple lines to outline shapes, and silhouettes of real leaves and paints. According to my ten simple paintings, I think I can draw more details of leaves, because in general, most of them are the whole form of branches.
