Throughout this task I was able to explore my surroundings. Being new to London I found this gave me a new freedom to my work. Many of the things I saw inspired me in exploring colour.

Through experimentation of mixed media, I have explored a wide range of drawing tools such as; pastels, acrylic paint, paper, palette knife and mark making. Through this I recognised how I enjoyed creating textures that I see in a more loose and abstract way. I also enjoyed looking at the realism of my sketches and balancing them out with an abstract application of colour. I found that through both the application and use of colour I could capture my surroundings freely.

Overall, I found this task a key starting point in building my knowledge on use of colour and a good base on learning how the application of colour affects your work.
