Eva Tosh – Talking Colour

A drawing using felt tip pens on cardboard, inspired by a wallpaper.
A watercolour painting, on a small canvas.
A biro drawing, with some red felt-tip, and red fineliner for added detail.
A drawing on tile, using sharpies.
A pencil drawing, outlining the shapes and colours of some cakes from a patisserie, on paper.
covid man, drawing using sharpie on a newspaper.
Another drawing on tile, using felt-tip pens.
A pencil drawing, on canvas, focusing on the different outcomes depending on how heavily the pencil marks are drawn.
A sculpture, made out of glue, to resemble the ceiling of Westfields.
A painting using oil paints, and tissue to create different textures. As well as a sharpie to add detail.

For this task I took a lot of my inspiration from the streets of London, specifically Portobello Road Market, and West London. Due to covid, I also took a large amount of inspiration, simply from my surroundings, for example, my garden and the different shapes I could see within my workspace. I enjoyed the experiments where I used media that I wouldn’t typically think of using – such as a glue gun to create an almost architectural sculpture and using little scraps of tile to use as the base of my drawings, as these were the media that stretched my thinking. I struggled with the accuracy of my drawings throughout this task. This is something I find difficult to do as I often want to emphasise aspects of an image that aren’t necessarily emphasised the same way in real life. I enjoyed having the chance to explore different colour pallets and media throughout this first task.
